Deborah Bull

Director, Culture at King’s
King’s College London

Deborah Bull joined King’s College London as Director, Culture at King’s in 2012. In this role, she provides leadership across the College to extend and enrich its cultural partnerships, providing a framework through which Culture at King’s can drive innovation, enhance the student experience, offer new ways to demonstrate the impact of academic research and engage new and more diverse audiences for the College. Deborah Bull has had a long and successful career in the arts, as performer, creative leader and cultural commentator. She danced with The Royal Ballet for twenty years, rising through the ranks to become a Principal Dancer. In 2001, she joined the Royal Opera House Executive, becoming Creative Director in 2008. She has worked extensively for television and radio and writes and speaks on the arts across a range of media. She has served on Arts Council England, as a Governor of the BBC and as a judge for the 2010 Man Booker Prize and, in 2013, she was appointed to the Arts and Humanities Research Council. In 1999, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, she was awarded a CBE for her contribution to the arts.
