As part of the ‘performative turn’ in research work, music training institutions are studying more deeply the potential for the personal reflection that is a normal part of music practice to be developed into a tool capable of driving novel approaches to research practices.

Professor Darla Crispin (Norwegian Academy of Music) explores the potential for reflection and autoethnography to transform aspects of practice-based/artistic research, as well as discussing some of the pitfalls that may arise in self-reflexive work.
