This is the first in a series of ‘BRC Lates’, an after-hours event where leading UCL/UCLH researchers and UCL Special Collections showcase work linked to BRC research themes in a sociable and relaxed setting.

Attendees will also be able to explore UCL’s unique collection of rare books, archives and manuscripts – including the chance to view an original expanded second edition of the influential 16th century textbook on anatomy De humani corporis fabrica (On the fabric of the human body) by Andreas Vesalius (1555).

Guest speakers Prof Margaret Hall-Craggs, Prof Adam Gibson and Prof Mark Lythgoe will explore the theme of medical imaging from the history of MRI in “It Wasn’t All Plain Sailing” to explaining how (and why) a foetal laporoscope was used to interrogate a pop-up copy of Vesalius and find out what is new and showstopping in the world of biomedical imaging.
